This is a free after-school program that seeks to help ensure a safe environment for children after school by providing opportunities that will help students grow socially and academically. The program includes assistance with homework as well as enrichment activities including drama, crafts, computer training, sports, science exploration and more.
We will provide the following:
Academic support that includes tutoring assistance or hands-on help from the staff and volunteers so students can “catch up and keep up” on their homework.
Challenging educational activities and fun games that encourage student interest and learning, such as drama and music, computer training, learning about other cultures and languages, nutrition, science, reading and math.
Opportunities to connect homework with real-world experiences, so students can see first-hand how their education relates to their future. You should see participation from volunteers of youth-serving groups, civic organizations, local employers, arts and cultural organizations, or faith-based alliances.
Family and parental involvement in learning opportunities, especially literacy support.
